Default Valve Cover bolts replace or reuse?

Hello

I have a 2000 RX300 and the valve cover gaskets are about to be replaced.

Is it recommended to replace the bolts part number 90080-10288?

I understand that they have a springy washer assembly that gets compressed and therefore unable to tighten the valve covers properly.

Should I replace the bolts or add a couple of 5/16" washer to the original ones? Or other?

The bolts that need to be replaced are the ones that have been stretched during assembly and they are generally the bolts that hold the head. For valve cover, you only need to replace the rubber-like, orings. The gasket set, I bought came with them.

rubber like orings? Are you talking about the spark plug tube seals?

I am asking about the bolts that hold the valve covers on. There is no rubber orings associated with the valve cover bolts that I know of?

Thank you

We are talking about the somethings. I am trying to explain the best I can. The old ones some what get flattened out.

example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/16466901850....c101195.m1851
See the 2 rows of tiny round things within the gasket.
Note: I am not endorsing the ad.

PS: I also suggest that the seals be replaced. Just be careful if the seals were replaced before as the metal weakens with each time it is bent,

Updated PS: I just did a search again for RX300 parts and I dont see the tiny bolt seals. Maybe it was a carry over from SC or GS work I have done.
Sorry for causing the confusion.

Hi

The link you sent is for a Nissan

The Toyota 1MZ-FE engine valve covers have nothing like what is shown in the link in you posted.

The bolts I am talking about have a springy washer assembly that looses tension over time.

Here is a link to the bolt I am talking about:

Please see my Updated PS.

I would reuse the tiny bolts without adding any washer. The shoulder (non-threaded) portion will keep the distance needed for the cover to squeeze down the gasket. In this case I would hope that the new gasket you are using is of the right material and thickness.
