Default JDM Engine

I'm in the process of replacing the engine in my 00 rx300 awd and was just wondering if anyone here has ever used a JDM import engine from Japan? This honestly looks like the best route to go for me. Just curious if they are truly low mileage, what if any differences are there and really any honest feedback/results anyone may have had.

What kind of $ are you looking at for one of those?

I like to know this too.
I sent them an email one time on a motor they had listed with stock photos and asked for actual pics of the motor I would be receiving if I purchased it and was told that can't get actual pics until I put a deposit on it and motor goes thru a cleaning process, etc.

@ carguy07: Looks like they run around 1100 + shipping. Think I'm going to give them a call when I get through with my work shift this upcoming week on Thurs (1-7)

There are slight differences between FWD and AWD engines. I have no idea about left/right hand drive differences. The differences are in casting for things that get attached. Just ask plenty of questions.

Ahh yes.
I forgot but I remember now seeing a youtube video of a guy who got an "RX engine" that came from a Toyota Sienna and I see a lot of listings that say they are the same engine but the engine block is drilled differently sometimes and he had to mod the block and drill holes for mounts- look like a huge PITA. lol
I'd make sure on fitment for sure.

I talked to local Toyota expert mechanic today and indeed they are legit, just said to be sure it looks like a low mile engine and it'll be just plug and play.

UPDATE 3/5/21 I have the subframe out and started taking engine transmission apart and was curious if anyone knew if the tranfer case needs to be removed as well or if it can just be lowered?

The km are just as likely incorrect like any engine you buy. Imports have reputation of low km but many would be disputed. Still to find low km/miles justifies labor costs. I still would see it as best option but i seriously doubt many import claims after seeing so many cars.

Greetings, I got a replacement engine for my 2001 Lexus RX300 from JDM in July of 2018. The engine that came with the car. Hammered a rod bearing out of it while going over Monteagle Tennessee on interstate 24. Had the car towed to my grandsons dad's shop in Temple GA.
I contacted the person I bought the car from because his brother is a Lexus mechanic. He said I could get a real good use replacement engine on a this JDM website. I couldn't believe it. They sold me a used engine with 55,000 miles on it. Including truck freight shipping charges for $1,132.00. The engine came from a warehouse in New York. I had it shipped to the address where the shop was at in Georgia and got it delivered in four days. It had the complete wiring harness with the PCM. It also came with a throttle body, intake plenum, alternator and power steering pump attached. I was told that I needed to change all the sensor and use my PCM. Apparently they use different ones in Japan. The only issue I had was that the bottom of the engine I got had a different from mine. So I had to swap them. I put a new timing belt and water pump on it before I installed it. After I got everything hooked back up I turned the key and it fired right up. No check engine light! The only issue I had was that the rear valve cover gasket leaked. That was my fault. I should of put new gaskets on. Other than that I haven't had any issues with it. It's nice and quite and it runs great. No overheating or oil consumption. For what I got and what I paid for it I couldn't of asked more.
