Default Key Question

Hello All, I've looked around and found pieces to my questions, but have decided to try a new thread to get the best answer for my specific case. Will try to make this as short as possible.

I had 3 keys to my 2002 Lexus RX300. One with the Remote Car starter, 2 without them. I lost my key with the remote start. One of my other keys had the base break off, and had to use pliers to get the key out.

Now I have the regular key without the electronic start and one key without the base. I tried to program the key without the base, but it seems that wont work without that base (unless someone knows how to go about doing it.. its funny, if I hold my regular key up to it, it will turn on) So, I guess, here are my questions. I know I can purchase a cut key and program the key myself, but would it be possible to purchase a key with the remote start and program that myself? Its already installed, afterall... and how would I go about doing that if possible...?

Also, does anyone know of a good, reputable place (could be online, as long as its not as pricey as the dealership.. if this is allowed to be posted) to purchase these keys? Thank you in advance!

Remote starter is an aftermarket add-on. Your best bet would be to find the manufacturer of the remote starter. [if needed].

I hope you have kept the broken key electronics as that is the useful part. The key blade is important but can be easily purchased and cut.

The key has personalization for the tumblers to allow it to be twisted [cutting the key/duplication]. The immobilizer signature is stored in the base of the electronic part. As long as you have the master key you can use it to register a new key [immobilizer signature]. The explanation and procedure are listed in the threads that you mention.

You can purchase key blanks and have them cut at reasonable price. Just make sure the length is correct or they are meant for your model. Lexus parts can cut a key too, but they may refuse if you don't buy the blank from them. Do not dismiss the dealership, do price them out.
