Default Our first Lexus

We purchased our first Lexus yesterday. It is a 2001 RX 300. It is in decent condition with 285,000 miles. It has 2 issues that I need to address first. If I understand it correctly this vehicle has 4 speeds in the automatic transmission. It does not seem to be shifting into fourth gear. The next obstacle is the vrm and traction control lights are on. I just found this forum and will be going through to try and diagnose the problem.

Check the transmission fluid level and you might consider changing the fluid at 285,000. VRM and traction control light get a code reader to see any current or pending codes. If you have an android phone or laptop with Bluetooth you might consider Torque Pro at the android play store along with a Bluetooth OBDII from Amazon.

Welcome to the site.

Congratulations and welcome to Club Lexus.

Please read through the sticky threads.

You should get the Engine error codes read .. most shops do it for free.

+1 to scanning the codes! I'd imagine it's a knock sensor, but that's a complete guess based on what's most common with that symptom. Post the codes up here and we'll get you shifting into 4th!
