Cheapest aftermarket bluetooth option that isn't a tape deck or FM adapter
Hey guys.
I've gone through 4 tape deck adapters and now the cost has gotten to the point where I should have just bought a more permanent solution such as that of unplugging the CD changer and installing something like a GROM.
Is there anything cheaper but similar to a GROM available? I don't really care about making phone calls or care about having an AUX port. I just want bluetooth for playing music from my phone.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi! As I recall, my GROM adapter was under $100, but I bought it a few years ago. I thought it was relatively inexpensive compared to anything else as good. I doubt you can find anything so good for less money.

Look at the "Aux-In" thread. That does require the phone jack. Once you have a tap in option then you can explore other options.

So I should update my request to be along the lines of cheap but not a tape deck adapter or an FM adapter.
Thank you for the input.

I use a wired FM adapter, which is reliable but noisy. My 2000 RX300 has a Nakamichi system though, which none of the aux in or even tape adapters work with. Otherwise I would happily spend the Grom money.

If you want REALLY good BT adapter with actually very decent hands free phone capability, and you have Aux and are OK with wires, KNIVO I shall recommend to anyone hands down. I have two of them, well, had, I sold one with a car. Have one in my Dosge RAM. Works perfect! And, as noisy as RAM is, hands free works fine.
I installed Aux jack into RAM headunit, what was about $15 gizmo.

In regard to the reliability of an FM adapter, the noise is the main complaint I read about, which to me makes it unreliable for consistent sound.

The GROM has good reviews but I'm trying to avoid spending the extra $100 for a name when all I want is a bluetooth signal.
