Replacement bulb in 2000 RX300 headlight assembly
There is a small bulb in the 2000 RX300 that is to the outside of the headlight bulbs. It lights when the headlights are on. It is small and relatively yellowish and dim. What is the name and the bulb number? I don't want to pull the headlight assembly without having a replacement in hand.

On a diagram I have, it looks like it could be the "clearance" light, whatever that means. If so, it would be the same bulb as the side marker light, 00234-00192, at least in an old parts guide. The number may have been superceded. Retail cost at the time was $1.00. I just peeked under the hood of my '99. That's a nasty one to reach; I can't believe they couldn't have figured out an easier way to replace it like the other bulbs in there! I think you're right; the headlight assembly must come out.

More common name is "parking light".
The stalk switch [for those who do not use Auto, has OFF, Parking Light, Head light, and then Auto".
In certain countries where vehicles are often parked on the street [along with the flow], these parking lights must be left On at night time. Some vehicles only have these on on the traffic side, but on Japanese imports in to USA, I have only seen all four corners lit up.

Trivia: There is legal requirement that these markers must be within a specified distance from the edge/side, so they are also referred to as corner lights.
Additionally, since they have to remain on, they are kept as low wattage bulbs.

'Parking Light' and Front Side Marker light do appear to be at least the same bulb type, if not the same bulb entirely - you can check out a 2000 Lexus RX300 Lighting Guide to be sure of fitment and see your options.
Looks like a 194 bulb, which is pretty common for smaller applications. There are lots of good 194 LED Bulbs out there - the Philips 194 LEDs are popular, with their cooler colour temperature of 6000K (icy white), but if you want something a bit warmer like natural daylight, our in-house Xtreme LED 194 LED Bulbs are a bit brighter and closer to 5000K.
