Default Installation of bluetooth adapter in 01 RX300

Has anyone installed one of these?

It bypasses the CD changer. There are 2 connector types for the non-nav RX that they sell, 99-03 with a 5+7p and 6+6p for the 04 and up. Neither of those connectors match up what I've got on the back of my radio.

What they say is for this vehicle and what they sent me.

The connector on the adapter seems to plug into the CD changer...that doesn't really make sense.

I think you need to plug your unit into the receptacle that the CD changer cable plugs into under the glove compartment. That is what I remember doing when I installed my Grom unit. See the photos on post #92 here:

Thanks! I'll pull out the glove box again and check. It looks like the CD changer plug runs into a junction that the adapter plugs into...from the photos.

When I purchased my RX, it had an aftermarket CD player that played over the FM band. Thus, I had no CD cable already installed. Good Luck!

Just make sure which plug is used. The plug behind at the CD end (harness side) or the plug at he head unit [the other end of the harness from CD to the head-unit.

It doesnt plug into the head unit. Based on the photos in the link the CD changer plugs into a junction block behind the glovebox that then joins another harness going to the radio. I'll see when I open it back up!

No such luck. The plug in the photo may have been for a vehicle without the CD changer. The plug going into the CD changer and the plug for the bluetooth adapter are identical. It looks like most of these GROM units have a plug with male pins so you just unplug the changer and plug the adapter into the harness. I might spend the $150 to get the better unit eventually.

I bought a cassette adapter and used an old bluetooth cigarette lighter adapter I had sitting in a drawer instead. #oldschool
