Default Slip Indicator Issue

Hello,

I have a 2001 RX300 with about 175,000 miles on it.

While making a right turn onto an on-ramp, or on a particularly snakey stretch of highway, my slip indicator will start flashing, the car starts beeping at me, and most notably the car starts to apply the brakes, the steering wheel feels like its dampening, and the car jerks to the side. I have found that I can stop the problem from happening at times by taking the turns slower than I would like, but this isn't a practical solution. It appears that during the turns the car thinks I am entering a skid and trying to correct it.

I have tried taking my car to a mechanic, and they weren't able to get the car to activate the slip indicator, and quoted me for an expensive diagnostic.

I tried using the trac-off button on the center console, but it really didn't seem like it made a difference.

Has anybody ever dealt with this sort of problem? Is there a way to disable the VSC controls?

Are your tires in good shape? Are you speeding on winding road? How is the road condition? You can turn off VSC control.

Tires are a year old, and the road is fine. I am not excessively speeding on a winding road, I am going the speed limit. Two people have borrowed my car in the last couple months and both have reported the same problem. It is not caused from atypical driving.

How do you turn off the VSC control? The trac-off button seems to make no difference.

I would think that it's a bad speed sensor or reluctor ring.

Ditto.
When turning, wheels spin at different RPMs side to side. Skid control ECU usually knows you are turning per steering wheel angle sensor and is OK with it.
So it's either ABS sensor related - dirty, that simple, very easy to get to on the front end - or SW sensor, or both. Fools ECU into believing that you are tracking straight but the wheel "slips" while it's simply turning.
