OK, got more INFO. The vehicle had a dead battery when purchased. now with the battery charged I have a flashing air bag light and a VSC warning light. The car has only 71,000 miles and runs and drives great.

Please read the sticky thread "having problem start here mega thread".

essentially it will tell you to get the codes read and then reset and read if the come back. Typically shops that read the code for free, do not allow you to reset the code(s). For air bag warning reset, you may need an advanced reader.

Air bag light technically comes on in case of an accident., or the computer reads out of spec value ... which can indicate the bag may no the deployed properly. There is one more case [not verified but talked about] is disconnecting the battery with the key in ignition can activate the air bag warning sign.
