Default Heater intermittently working on 2001 rx300

I replaced the actuator that opens the heater door, but it still doing the same thing. The other servo looks liked been replaced too by the dealer. In fact, the dealer (seems to) tried to fix the problem. I was thinking, it might be the signal from the thermostat is giving the problem. Please help.

Yes it did, but its not blowing hot air. It will initially blow warm air when I turn the engine then it shuts down.

So your blower motor is stopping? Does it only stop when hot air is being blown?

Can you please post

1. Level of coolant in the radiator (not the overflow tank? [check with the engine co[b]ld]

2. Does the loss of heat happen after the temp gauge has reached near the 1/2 mark?

3. After reaching the midway point, keep the A/C in "Auto" and raise the cabin temp to hot (max), does the blower motor speed change?

Salim

To answer LexmusSo your blower motor is stopping? Does it only stop when hot air is being blown?
When I turned on the engine and the temperature is on HOT, the hot air blows for a minute or two, then the lever goes down to close the heating door (for lack of good term). Reason (I assumed) it turns on the cold air.

To answer Salimshah,
1. Level of coolant in the radiator (not the overflow tank? [check with the engine cod]
A: What is the engine cod? when I open up the radiator, I saw the coolant on it's correct level...

2. Does the loss of heat happen after the temp gauge has reached near the 1/2 mark?
The lost of heat happens when the temp gauge has reached the HOT mark. Should it be different when it reached the 1/2 mark?

3. After reaching the midway point, keep the A/C in "Auto" and raise the cabin temp to hot (max), does the blower motor speed change?
I need to try to play with it again..... I probably will not have a chance, since I removed the power to the actuator to maintain a mid temp inside the car. I will go back to this trend when I got a chance to put the power back and follow this # 3 steps......
Thank you Salimshah.

Sounds like you unplugged the air mix servo to keep the temp relatively constant by keeping the mix door at an intermediate location. That means the servo is bad. You can try removing the servo and opening it up and cleaning the dirty grease on the contacts and wheel. Or order a new one.

There are many threads on the air mix servos . . .

This thread has info on servo removal and go to post #52 to see what it looks like taken apart
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...made-easy.html

This is a general debugging thread for no hot air, mostly focused on the air mix servo but other causes are discussed.

AA.. cod -> cold .. Good

AA..The gauge should not go to HOT mark .. it should max out at or near 1/2 way. Please have your engine cooling system examined for bad pump or stuck thermostat. Collapsing hose is another reason. [Engine cooling system maintains the engine temperature and the cabin heat is derived from the hot coolant].
I am referring to engine temperature gauge in your instrument cluster and not the heat setting of the cabin temp.
