Default 2002 parts car

I recently came across a 2002 RX300 that is being parted out. Engine runs 150,000 miles trans bad and most body panels are in fair condition. I own a 1999 RX and was wondering if this would be worth my time. Selling price $200 no tires or wheels everything else is intact . By the way mine guzzles oil 1quart ever 200 miles.

Do you plan to build the $200 vehicle up or use parts to fix yours?

I am guessing the building up will require lot of labor if not parts to have it up to mark. Fxing the oil issue may be lot less effort.

The above is pure shooting from the hip. You are going to be the best judge.

it really depends upon your end purpose. If you plan to drive it to death and put up the money for a transmission and use it as a daily beater it could be worth it. As far as your '99 RX oil guzzler, consider upgrading your rear valve cover to the rx330 style and pcv. The earlier year RX300 revisions of the rear valve cover are known to cause oil consumption problems once the baffles get cruded up.

Judging at the price of parts on ebay, like a $99 used Brake Lamp Failure Tail Light Relay Sensor, you could almost pay to have an engine or transmission moved to one vehicle just by parting out the other one.

Default Parts car

The idea was to strip the parts off a scrap and the rest and rebuild the engine. I'm a gear head and really enjoy that kind of stuff. My wife would absolutely kill me if I drug it home. All in its not in that bad of shape. I'm guessing the engine is worth 200.

How much does an RX330 valve cover cost?

i'd say pick it up, you will save $$ in the long run.

if you do and it is available, i will take the passenger side rear door switch panel assembly.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to go for it. Probably try to talk him down on the price. He seemed motivated to get rid of it.
