Default 99RX300 Transmission won't come out of PARK

Started car this morning & leaver moves freely from park but not selecting any gears. Is this a transmission problem, electrical or cable?

How does the stick feel? If the amount of effort is less then it is the linkage.

As simple careful examination at the far end can tell you if it is the linkage.

Hi, Thanks to the post by Brcobrem on the 24th April 2015. I removed the "U" shaped plastic wood-grain console trim & could immediately see that the black plastic/nylon OEM bushing was gone & the transmission shift cable's end hoop/ring, was off the end of the shift lever's shaft. I used a piece of looped hat elastic to hold the cable in place & was able to drive to the mechanics for repair. So impressed & grateful for the information that is shared on this forum saved me grief, time & the cost of a tow truck.

It is not the problem here but people forget you need to press brake in to take it out of park.
