where can i go to lift up my car?
hi guys,
from what i read it sounded like some people were going to places where you could lift up your car and do repair work yourself. are there any chains that i could search for or what would i search for to find one of these places?
i live in northern california bay area if anyone can make a suggestion. thanks.

found this in santa clara http://pitrow-diy.com/
what are you trying to attempt that you need a lift that you can't get done on jack stands? Unless you are limited in space.

the place you suggested is $35 /hr. probably wouldn't be worth it for something like an oil change unless i bought a prepaid package.

definitely do not work under a scissor jack. They are ridiculously dangerous. I've seen them collapse and had one break on me while just trying to change a tire.
Spend a little on a decent floor jack and jack stands and perhaps ask a friend to borrow their flat driveway/garage. fwiw, a harbor freight floor jack and a pair 6 ton stands can be had for under $100 with a pair of 20% off coupons.
