Frequency in changing ATF filter , differential oil and transfer case
Hi everyone
I just got a 01 AWD w 38K and I already did the drain and fill with Type 4 Toyota OEM
And Differential and transfer case oil change using synthetic
Q for the club experts
How often do I need to change the differental and transfer case gear oil ?
I heard it is always a good idea to do the drain and fill every 15K for the ATF
What about the D &T gear oil ? Is it every 15K or 30k ?
What about the ATF filter ? I have not pulled the pan but my guess
Is it still has the metal ATF filter
Thanks everyone !

Congratulations. I would suggest that you go to your Lexus dealership and have all history pulled out and let the advisor suggest needed services. You can have them do it or get it done elsewhere and or DIY.
The history will also let you track the actual miles used by service dates.
back to your question ... there are many things that you did not mention
Quality of Lubricants
Driving/storage conditions
Frequency of use and duration of use [in your case it may be that the vehicle was used for very short trips and that can be bad for lubricants]
Manufacturer's recommendation [you can ask the service writer] is based on lubricants they use, service intervals and local driving conditions.
Based on all of the above, while I abstain, I expect some lively (hopefully not heated) discussion on frequency of lubricant change(s).
Only valuable advice I can give is ,, check the fluids (the ones you can) every week. For the ones you cant. check for drippings on the ground.
Lastly dont forget brake fluid and power-steering fluid.

Thanks salim
I did check the Lexus history and it looks like there were not much history
For 7 yrs in the lexus history
That said , battery replaced , all timing belts changed , Water pump , All BeltS changed , oil and filter change , air and cabin filter replaced , coolant changed , MAS cleaned
And the car got a clean bill of health from lexus dealer where I purchased from( in AZ )
And my local dealer . The only issue is the rear brakes has Only 60% left
My question is how often should the transfer and differental gear oil be changed ?
I am going to run Mobil 1 5/30 in the Next oil change
The car runs pretty smooth !!
