I am having a problem with the factory stereo in my rx300. Ever since i got it used about a month ago; The stereo keeps putting out muffled sound even with a perfectly strong signal. This happens on fm; but on am; its like very staticy., So does this sound like a possible ground loop issue in the system causing interference; or does this sound like a possible antenna and or antenna cable issue or something else? Thanks, Matt
not sure about cd's; as i dont have any cds to try out as Im mainly a radio listener. But I may be able to snag one from my brother if he still has any around that i could borrow.
Also make sure you do not get MP3 format CDs. It should be regular cd and you will need cartridge to load them (upside down) ... a bit counter intuitive ,,, please look up the owner's manual.
What hyper and I trying to determine is what could be malfunctioning ... the head unit, amp or the speakers.
Also observe the radio display and if possible post a picture and text explanation of flickering of an icon.

Don't think it's a ground loop but you may have a poor ground or a bad antenna signal lead/connction. Is the static on AM dependent on the engine speed?
No; the sound does not seem to be dependent on engine speed. The sound just goes from being full stereo to mono like and it keeps doing that it seems like on almost every fm station(not all but a lot of them) and am there is a lot of static on most of the stations I have preset.
