Default Trunk problem

Hi guys
I would like to have some help, if you can, I don't know why my Lexus RX 300 2001, yesterday started to have a problem
I can't open in anyway the trunk, I tried both the keys, the internal general lock/unlock of the doors, the switch on the keys and nothing
What I can do now? Can someone help me, I really appreciate.
I'm in uk so the car is a right hand ( if might change something)
Thank you very much
Lu

The return spring on the external handle weakens and sticks over time; try fiddling with it.

Hi jab
Thank you for your replay, any idea of what I can do exactly? Remove the panel of the trunk door?

Not yet; what I am trying to describe is that on the outside of your rear hatch is the latch that you would squeeze in order to open the hatch. On mine, sometimes it sticks; simply reach under there and try to push that latch toward the front of the car. If so, perhaps your mechanism will work again.

If it tends to stick, spray grease (i used crc white lithium) into both the keyhole and locking mechanism. Then work the latch to spread the grease around.
Mine was a bit rusted and hard to open, but now it works fine.

You may have shut it too hard. Do not pull the black lever to try to open too hard, because I once did and snapped the tiny plastic piece that is attached to. $150 repair.
