A new tire option for the RX300
Having previously used the Cooper CS4 on my Park Avenue, I can report it lives-up to its mileage claims, is very grippy and very quiet. So when new tires were needed for the RX300, I investigated the new Cooper CS5, an 80K mile rated tire. It transformed the vehicle--I won't say into a sports car, BUT, it corners SO MUCH better and extremely quiet compared to the Bridgestones that had been on the car from the prior owner. Its worth a look when you are considering tires. BTW, I am not in the tire business and don't own any Cooper stock. Reviewers seem to like the CS5 as well...

FYI, Cooper makes tires for PepBoys as well, under the Definity brand and they do last a long long time. I've a set of their All Terrain model on my Jeep XJ. Performed perfectly during the miserable winter we just had.

Although I am not a fan of Cooper tires for personal experience over the years. Neither Coopers nor their private label brands have treated me well with the lack of quality or duration(lots of viberations). And knowing this, I must confess, I did buy 4 Cooper CS4's in June 2013 for my '04 Altima, and they're difficult to keep in balance.
I am contemplating the new CS5's for our RX-300 to replace the Good/Year Assurance Comfort Treads's(5/32nds). Discounttiredirect(DTD) has the CS5's at a good deal til July, 12th. I'd just hate to replace my G/Y ACTs and get yet another friggen Cooper tire that won't keep balanced on such a nice RX. I don't want to gamble!
I have seen all of Coopers videos on the CS5 with the Press and Cooper engineers touting the goodness of the new CS5's. But, I have seen all of this before and have been displeased with the final product...Again!
So, I may wait for another tire to go on sale and just get what I trust, even if paying more money!

Regarding balance, whether it was my CS4 or other brand tires, I have learned that tire balancing machines are supposed to be calibrated DAILY and shops seem to often forget this important step which has resulted, on numerous occasions, in my immediately returning to the shop and having them re-balanced. Now, I get early morning appointments and ask on arrival if the machine has been calibrated that morning...have had less difficulty since.
