Shocks and struts options?
Was going to replace my shocks and struts soon... all i see is KYB GR-2 replacements.. I don't see any Koni for a 2001 rx300 fwd...
Its been a few years since the last thread I read on the subject was responded to... Is there anything else out there?
thanks..

I just had front struts/shocks and rear shocks done with a new set of tires (tire place that is a chain but I trust them given the work they have done for me in the past). They said the fronts were completely blown, leaking fluid, at 98k miles. Rear were worn but with the ones in the front he recommended replacing the rears same time. Roads are poor here, lots of potholes so suspension takes a beating.
The car feels just a bit stiffer on the highway in a good way. I think I would have been OK with the old ones but at this point with new and used car prices I'm OK with putting money into it to keep it in good shape.

I've never owned a car this old with so many miles but when I look at the cost of newer cars I feel I can justify putting some money in the old girl and some new cool tools for me too with the savings. lol

Gabriel Struts
You can get Gabriel struts with H&R sport springs; Love my setup. The ride was improved so much. As far as aftermarket struts go, Gabriel seems to be the best option available. Check RockAuto

Love my H&R springs on my 2002 Highlander, funny enough they came from an RX300 because they don't make one for my application. 3+ years on these with KYB struts and it has been holding up fantastic. A little stiff, but very little body roll and responsive handling.

Cheap choice
here is a cheap choice. I recently put shocks and struts on my 99 with 230,000 miles. Believe it or not it had the original shocks and struts. It’s an old car with a lot of miles so I looked for something reasonable. The best I could do was Monroe quick struts through walmart.com. With tax and tip (and shipping) it was $288 for the pair of rear shocks. They may not be the best available but it shocked by mechanic that I could find them so cheaply. Hope this helps. Smooth riding! Zenshin

I kniw this is a slightly older thread but our 2002 rx has 205k with original shocks-yes they seep some but function perfectly-the only work that was done was front suspension components-that is where the ride quality can help the most-turning stopping starting etc.- we will address the struts one day but we have no clunks or rattles over speed bumps or potholes whatsoever
