Most of the time it is airflow or rather the lack of it, that creates a demand for a lower temperature. Check out the aircon filter , the ducting, the vents etc. for blockage. See if the cabin is" airtight" in the sense that a window isn't creeping down while driving, check if the moonroof is properly closed etc The RX's aircon is pretty effective to keep the occupants cool in extreme hot climates and it shouldn't be necessary to add fans etc.

+1, clean the cabin air filter.

Try cleaning the condenser to remove any bugs, and other junk!

Try using the recirculation mode instead of the fresh air mode.

I just bought a 2002 RX300. Drivers AC is nice and cold. Passenger AC not so cold. Any suggestions? Also where are the cabin air filter and condenser? My RX300 didn't come with the owners manual.

I have a RX 2002 AWD and I notice cooling is affected by outside humidity to some extent. Today was not humid and I just about froze by the time I got to work at noon - 30 minute drive. Most days are really humid here in TN and I would have been fine. Recirc mode helps as does touching Auto button after turning temp to COLD.
