Sorry if I am posting in the wrong area, just signed up today. Already read a bunch of helpful info.
I was just GIVEN a 2000 RX300 with 109,000 miles for helping out a friend.....karma I guess!
Getting 11.2 MPG but I assume that's because my oxygen sensor is held on with coat hanger.....going to change the studs (broken) and replace sensor, clean MAF sensor, change oil and air filter and see if that helps.
I am looking forward to meeting you all in the years to come that I am going to be driving my SUV!

It had a valve job done but they said nothing of the timing belt. Something I should do then? I am unfamiliar with these vehicles. I have a shop at my house and do all my own work.
Wow, clean... First thing is visit Lexus' website and put the VIN in their maintenance history database and see what comes up. It's probably due for a belt, unless it was just done. If it had a valve job, I would assume they replaced the belt when they put the heads back on, but one never knows, does one?
Also, make sure you reset the AVG MPG on the computer by holding the "INFO" button down until that display resets back to 0.. You may be surprised what the mileage actually starts to read.
And, welcome aboard!

While you are in there, might as well replace water pump, cam/crank seals, tensioner, idler pulleys, etc. You can get an entire kit on eBay with all OEM parts for around $200.
Glad to hear you DIY! You will fit right in!
Thanks everyone, this seems like a very friendly place to share information. I appreciate it!
Found out late yesterday that my RX did have the timing belt done when they did the valve job so that is a relief. I did reset the ~mpg, it is actually reading lower since I did that
@2kharrier - thanks for the tip I will put my VIN in the Lexus website later today!
