CEL is on, read p0330. I can not understand it. I think knock sensor is only used when low OCT gas feed. I feed this car with premium gas all the time, but still got p0330, why?

Have you tried resetting it by clearing it out and/or pulling battery cable?

I am not trying to be cynical here, but eventually every part will go in the vehicle, including mine, and I have a few things that need fixing myself.

How many miles on the vehicle right now?

You probably either have a bad knock sensor, too much carbon build up, or the knock sensor wiring is bad/not connected properly.

You are being factual.

OP ... the knock sensor -> ecu -> timing_adjust -> fuel_burning ->pre-ignition_knock loop will wiork till all components work, when they fail (or become marginal) then changing the grade will only work for a while ... till the loop fails to adjust beyond its limits. When that is happening, the engine is behaving abnormally and I would not keep it running.

It is 156000 miles. I understand the knock sensor turns bad at this mileage is common.

But one evidence makes me feel something. I see many people got P0330 after they got P0174 and they cleaned MAF sensor. I am not sure if there is a connection between knocking sensor and MAF sensor, or inside the whole system.

There is a loose connection.

MAF plays a part in controlling Oxygen (fersh air) with portion of fuel by monitoring the exhaust and intake.

The knock sensor detects (when working properly) the sounds of preignition and impact the spark timing.

When my knock sensor started going bad, I was on the fence for few months. Played with grades of fuel and fuel cleaners .. but the problem persisted till I changed them (including the wire harness).

I hope this would help make up your mind.
