My '01 RX300 blows cold air on the driver's side, but not so much on the passenger side. It is as if it had separate controls like some of the sedans have. I took the cover off underneath and checked the hot/cold and vent servo motors. Everything appears to be OK. I can't find any ductwork information on my service manual CD. Any ideas??
I am referring specifically to the vents on either side of the center display.
Solved the problem. I suspected that the A/C was a split system operated in unison and that the evaporator (piece inside the car) was not uniformly cold across its surface. This created the "cool on the driver's side and warm on the passenger side" scenario. Picked up one of those new charger canisters w/pressure guage (Interdynamics EZ Chill in this case) and found out I had essentially no pressure (!). After charging for several minutes and about half a can, I now have icicles on both sides of the car.
So, if your A/C is cooling unevenly, check the Freon charge.
