Unhappy key fob for 2003 RX300

i lost the only key fob i have and no backup key. the dealership says it will require a new computer, which Lexus will pay for, but two new fobs will take 10 days and cost $550. does anyone have any better suggestions than that? i'm sick to my stomach. thanks.

Please explain why Lexus is willing to pay for the computer.

If that is your drive away price, (new comp, new keys, labor), you should be jumping with joy. It is such a sweet deal that it has us puzzled.

Default key fob

the service tech told me that lexus will replace the computer for customer loyalty but that the labor and two new fobs is $550. so that sounds good?

When I bought my RX in May 1998 the salesman made sure I understood that if I loose the keys I'm on my own; that the cost of a new computer and keys would be about $2,000, and that was almost 15 years ago!

Lexus will as a goodwill replace the computer one time for a car. And one time only. That's why you must buy 2 keys. So hopefully it doesn't happen again. On the older models that require a computer replacement, it's a great idea to always keep two keys.
