Hi everyone...Just got an RX300 last month with 78k miles on it. But something is already wrong. I'm driving, and all of a sudden, it loses power and slows to a halt. To solve the problem, I turn off the ignition, and restart the engine, engage the gear and continue moving. But the problem, it has happened 5 timmes this week already. Each time, moving on whenever I restart the engine. The check engine light also came on yesterday. Anybody with a similar experience? Any suggestions before I take it to the garage? I'm worried, barely covered a 100 miles since I got it. Was it really a good buy? Somebody pls
1st think I would do is get it scanned at Advance Auto for free, and find out what codes are thowing the check engine light..that will help you narrow the issue down.
I had a wicked electronic gremlin in my 2000 RX300 over the summer. It magically went away, by smacking the dash...seriously. It hasn't come back in 6 months. To this day, I have no idea what was wrong.

2 things immediately came to mind transmission is first thought this is the symptoms i had with old transmission. the second thought is the airflow valve stuck as will behave similar but i will advise to service the transmission as mentioned i had same issues.
Absolutely, like others have said, you aren't giving enough information.
Yeah, you need to know what codes are coming through. There are definately more symtoms, although you might not be aware of them. Tranny fluid condition? Check the dipstick with a clean paper towel. Look for discolored fluid or burned smell (one of the first things to look for when buying used). Is it new and clear pink?
Is it an engine problem? Misfire or smoke from the engine? Engine oil condition?
Report back the engine management codes... there is a forum for it, and you will find lots of help from knowledgable members... I did! I bought an inexpensive scanner for less than $20 from Amazon (I think it was $14) I have used on other cars lots of times since the RX300. It paid for itself over and over. Folks on the RX300 forum helped me translate with the codes my RX gave and it helped me out a couple times.
