All 2001 rx300 please advise!!! Check engine?
i just bought a rx 300 2001 a day before easter and want to know if there was other folks who owned a 2001 rx 300 and had there check engine light go on? i drove about 60 miles and in between those miles it came on and said check engine? the dealership said that it can be a gas cap not tight? i removed gas cap and retightened and the dealership said after 50miles the light will go off? i drove alot more then that and it stays on? i was wondering if other folks experience this? and was was wrong that made it go off? i heard before that someone in this forum had the similar problem? thanks

Could be something even worse, but either try this https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...8&postcount=15
or have the code read at AutoZone and let it us know what it is.

The check engine light going on is fairly common with new-vintage cars.
I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of RX300 owners have had a check engine light come on in the first 60,000 miles.
It could be something as simple as a gas-cap seal, or something more expensive to repair. As LexMex said, if you get a readout of the code/codes we can give you some ideas from there.

Those were some Momos I got down here and then I trimmed off the black padding. I always loved the IS300 pedals and that was the idea there. Actually my HyperRev magazine showed these same exact pedals as a modification. They are actually called Momo Grand Prix Automatic pedals.

Usually it's your MAF meter.
Try cleaning it first with contact cleaner or brake cleaner if it's dirty.
Also check your vaccum hoses around the intake if any came loose.

thanks brother for that advise.... i will see, is that the crc can that is specifically made for mass air sensor cleaner where you spray in the tube into the mass air sensor needle? and is it true that the mass air sensor determines how much airflow and fuel and etc? thanks and what is maf again i forgot... thanks buddy

It's part of the equation. MAF checks velocity and air temperature of your incoming air, but the A/F sensors on both banks of your manifolds are also the other part of the equation. They both help determine the amount of fuel going into your engine.

See the thread at the top of the RX300 forum about gas mileage and clean the areas related to the IACV system as noted. That gets dirty in large part to the crankshaft ventilation system. Mine gets dirty also because I do not run an air filter (I tried and actually lost power, but we will see at sea level in about a week).
