Here is a post that I haven't seen much of, what brand/kind of plugs do you all use? I've seen them anywhere from $3.00 all the way to $13.00 a piece, from Bosch to NGK to Autolite, anyone use the more common brands or just buy straight from lexus?

 

NGK Iridium plugs or Denso Iridium plugs should be used. If I remember correctly they are the same part.

 

T/L uses both NGK and Denso Iridium plugs as original eq. In my opinion they are equal in quality, some of the best in the world. They list for roughly $20. ea. but can be bought for about $7.50-$8.00 ea. and I wouldn't dream of using anything else. They will cost you at least $20.-$22. ea. at Lexus though.

Add. When I changed the plugs in my DIL's RX at 97K mi. they literally looked near new. They were OEM NGK.

 

NGK all the way. Denso is fine as well.

Thanks for all the replies, I was torn between the Bosch brand and NGK I've used NGK in almost everything but on our SC430 we've started using Bosch products and they've all been great but never used their sparkplugs. But I will probably go NGK.

 

Most plug companies sell more than one type of plug, sometimes several. Make CERTAIN you get IRIDIUM plugs because both NGK and Denso sell a cheaper line of plugs but you're cheating yourself if you buy anything less than Iridium. NGK and Denso Iridium plugs are the finest plugs in the world. Bosch SHOULD be excellent products but trust me they have produced some real boners in recent time. Their plugs do not do well in some cars. Their injectors have cost someone (not sure if it's Ford, Bosch or shared) a ton of money from sticking open and causing hydro-lock in some Ford engines and it costs a new engine because of the damage. I used to use Bosch parts, now I tend to stay away from them.

i had heard the same thing from a mechanic in 05/06 about running Bosch plugs Nissans, which lead to my 'japanese plugs in japanese cars' comment.

also, if one runs 'less than' iridiums, you wont be doing any harm to your engine, youll just end up replacing your plugs sooner (copper, etc are less hard = faster wear)
