I've looked at the GROMs but I'd like to keep the keep the CD changer which, according to Partywave's post, the US-SPEC unit does.

I've contacted GROM support about possibly being able to get both cd changer and GROM unit to work. I'll keep everyone informed as to what I find out.

Just thought I would add the DIY GROM link for installation here in case someone doing a search runs across this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...tallation.html

I worked on this for quite a while. The only way to keep the CD player working, apparently, is to splice a rotary three-position multipole switch (simultaneously controlling 8 or 10 different low voltage circuits, as I recall) into the cable going to the iPod. One set of wires goes to the CD player (connected when the switch is in position ON 1), one set of wires goes to the iPod (connected when the switch is in position ON 2) and manually move this switch when you want to go between CD player and iPod. (Position 3, OFF, is not needed.) Switches with this many poles are hard to find; I found a couple on eBay that were Russian military surplus and combined a couple of switch mechanisms into one. It actually was so much of a pain that I finally gave up. My daughter wasn't using the CD player much in her vehicle, anyway. I talked with the GROM people about this at length, also.

I just installed the iSimple transmitter in our other '99 (with Nakamichi) since the GROM won't work on it. Great sound, easy to work, CD player still works, easy to install, and only $44 on eBay. I installed the included switch in a blank switch plug next to the lighter. I'm really pleased with this, and I can't believe how inexpensive it was!
