New magnetic drain plugs for transmission + transfer case + front differential
There are from a company called Gold Plug, http://www.goldplug.com/ and I got them on Amazon here, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details
Very good price for a magnetic plug
M18 bolt and uses a 3/4 open wrench to open and close. No more hex wrench holes that get bent out of shape over time (rounded out).
First two pictures show it compared to front differential plug and later on the front differential with wrench. It comes with a washer.

Trans and FWD Diff Magnetic Drain Plugs for a 1999 Lexus RX 300 3.0 2WD
Thanks Lexmex! Good information and thanks for including photos.
Are the engine oil, trans pan, and front diff drain plugs the same configuration? The only application listed on the website is for the engine oil pan. Like you, I'm looking for the drain plugs for the FWD differential (mine is 2WD) and the transmission pan.
Can you recall which ones I should order that fit which component?
Are any of the OE plugs magnetic at all?
Thanks for all the informative posts.

The bolt is actually listed as being for a Dodge truck, but it fits just fine, M18. The plug size is the same for the 2WD or AWD tranny.
The engine oil plug for the RX300 is actually an M12 and would be their AP-03 plug,

On OEM, the front differential (2WD/AWD), rear differential (AWD) and transfer case (AWD) drain plugs are magnetic.

Welcome to the Club.
The oil pan is smaller, while the other ones you mention are the same. However, there is a difference on for example the rear differential fill plug as the magnet is very long on it.
With regard to the bolt I bought above, I would really only use that for drain plug of the transfer case, the front differential and the tranny pan. The stock plugs on the rear differential and the filler plug for the transfer case are good as is. In addition, there is very limited clearance on the fill plug for the rear differential with some moving parts back there.

Thanks Lexmex. Going to use these to replace my rusted plugs.
Note on part numbers: the goldplug.com website has AP-05 for 2000 RX300 (drain plugs for transfer case, front differential and transmission pan) which is not found on Amazon. Part number MP-10 listed on Amazon is the same as AP-05.
Here is email response I received:
Hi Matt,
Yes, it is. Amazon messed up the part number years ago and we have been unable to change it.
The MP-10 and AP-05 are the same.
Thanks,
Tim
