CD-R music
#5
I've burned audio CDs to CD-Rs and they work.
Data CDs with wav files or mp3 files won't work.
It will read CD-Rs but the discs have to be audio CDs.
Does anyone know if audio CDs burned to CD-RWs,
ones that you can erase and re-burn, will work in
the standard RX300 changer?

CD-RW's
I am not aware of ANY standard CD Player that will play CD-RW's. That is the draw back to burning RW's. You can save your RW to your hard drive and reburn a CD-R and then - I'm not aware of ANY standard CD player that will not play that format.

Most newer Home, auto, and portable CD players will play CD-RWs in CD-Audio format... and many will play CDs in MP3 format.
How do I know? I have a cheap Apex CD home player that'll play CD-RWs (in both CDA and MP3 format) that I burn for parties all the time. I also have a Sony boombox next to me that'll do the same. Look in a Crutchfield catalog and you'll find dozens of auto players that'll play CD-RWs... The list goes on...
All it took was a firmware change for the OEM manufacturers to get the CD mechanisms to recognize the newer formats...

My point was that a "standard" cd-player will not recognize CD-RW format. There are players that recognize mps and rw formats - but that is a much different animal from a "standard" cd player.

2000 RX300 CD changer DOES NOT play CD-RWs
I just got around to trying CD-RWs in the 2000 RX300 CD changer.
A CD-RW burned as an audio CD DID NOT work. So the CD changer
plays CD-Rs but NOT CD-RWs burned as audio CDs.
Edited 'cause that was some great crack I was smokin'.
The CD I got to play was not the CD-RW. Stupid changer.
The CD player tried and tried to read the CD-RW but failed.
Sorry.
