Really, I do NOT want to start an argument or a war of words, but my neighbor is a lead mechanic at the Toyota dealership I go to and he told me that the 1MZ-FE engines are NOT interference. I know there has been debate over this time and time again, and quite frankly I don't know what to believe...

Your neighbor needs to go back to school then. The 1MZ-FE VVT-i motor IS interference. The non VVT is NOT interference.

100% correct! Same with the 2jz engines... The newerish VVT-i's ARE interference.

For benefit of future readers, please keep the discussion on topic in a thread and start a new thread if it is warranted.

This thread is about transmission.

Default Transmission problems? Or something else

I have a 99 rx 300 I recently did a tranny fluid charge diff fluid change, variable timing solenoid changed, along with cleaning the filters, new spark plugs, battery, I do have a valve cover gasket leak which I am going to tackle here soon as I do have to parts to do so, which I’m also replacing the manifold gaskets spark plug tubes, and throttle body gaskets too. But I noticed Some hesitation in the car, like it’s not at its full potential of power, it’s lagging and there seems like there might be a little stutter but only from 1st to 2nd gear and it’s very faint. It is possible that my rear suspension could possibly make it seem like a stutter but just bad suspension. Which is possible because it does need some tlc but I’m not sure what else could cause the hesitation and the stutter, or even a little harder shifting then it should, I’ve heard u shouldn’t even be able to feel it shift gears and I do, any idea what else I could consider the problem being? There are no codes or check engine light. So I’m at a loss right now.
