Default Mileage readout in console stuck

The gf's '99 RX300 (about 160km/100miles) was recently brought in to the dealership for an exhaust leak. It was a headache, starting with the P0141 code, and then another code for blowing a fuse or something.

Anyway, recently noticed the Cruise Information on the console is stuck at 13.8L/100km, which obviously should not be the case (it should be fluctuating.)

Anyone know what the fix might be?

If it stuck or frozen try to reset the battery connection.

Have you tried resetting it first?

Screen shot says "AVG" -> average. Average will not fluctuate, specailly if it has been computed over long period of time.

Well, considering it's not my car, I have no idea how to RESET it I'll see if I can find the car manual

That doesn't make sense, unless it's a 'snapshot' average. i.e. It should continue to (slowly) fluctuate, would it not?

It won't fluctuate as much as you think it would. It rarely changes.
To reset it keep the "info" button pressed down and it'll reset.

Hypervish replied to your question on how to reset ... info button cycles the display and if you hold the button down, you will hear a beep and the thing will reset. Each setting can be cleared/reset.

Average .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average

If you have not reset the average and have driven say thousands of kilo-meters, and you are idling, (0km/L) will not impact your average [to purist it does, but the change in average may be in the 6th or 7th place of decimal].

A more practical example that most of us can relate to is after 140 credit hours, if the GPA is 3.0, a single 2 hr course with a C or a A will still result in 3.0

Salim
ps: If you reset the setting and then the average is based on almost close to 0Km. This is when you will see average fluctuating but then as the Km pile up, the average will settle to fixed number.
