Default 99 RX300 Issues

I just bought a 99 RX300 used. It seems to be well kept and she kept all service records for the vehicle. It has a couple of issues that I am not sure how to go about fixing....

1. The driver door lock does not work with the remote key? Any idea how to fix this? All others work fine.

2. When the lights are set to the auto setting they do not turn off. Thought it may have something to do with the drivers door not working but not sure.

Anyone have any idea on these two issues?

First welcome to CL.

The door lock issue with the remote is covered under many threads ... look for door lock actuator with the search feature.
Piggy back is the simplest and among the cheapest solution.
Some have claimed success in replacing the motor.

The auto feature has a programmable (dealer set option) delay in the '99 model. If you lock the door twice, it should shutoff immediately [fix the door lock first], but you can try locking twice in quick succession with the key.

I have personally never set the switch to auto. I want to make sure the lights are off and on when I want to.

Read the owners manual is the best advice I can give any new owner,

Salim

Thanks will look for the lock information.

Read the manual also. Tried the double locking thing and it didn't work with the remote. Will try it with the key though.

I also have the same problem with the driver side door lock not opening/locking on my 1999 rx300. I bought he car new in oct.1998 and the sticky door lock problem started this year. The other 3 doors and hatch open/lock with no problems. I changed the battery on in the remote key but that didn't help. Have to insert the key into the drivers door to open the door. Any help in solving this problem is appreciated.

Remote sending unit in the key is common to receiving unit in RX. So when all other door locks respond, it can not be the key. Driver door lock is used more frequently and typically fails first.

Please search on "door lock actuator".
