Default Tachometer Jumping & Check Engine light on!!

Hello all.
Today, when I drove home at highway, I found the check engine light is on. I didn't feel anything wrong, or maybe the acceleration of the car is a little bad. Then after 10 mins driving, I found my tachometer sometimes jumped from 2000 rpm to 4000 rpm, and the car run weak. I stopped at highway, and restarted the engine, after several minutes, it jumped again. When I drove around my local zone at 30 -40 mph, I didn't find anything unusual, but I was afraid.
I don't have the code reader on hand right now, but I am wondering if anybody similar with this problem?

I just got my rear brake pad changed by my friends, is there a chance that he made a mistake or loosen some unwanted parts?

The car's VSC light is also on, but I didn't feel any vibration, like usual. Is this because of VSC??

Today is rain...

Have the code read. Without the codes, any diagnosis would be a wild guess.

Brake problem would manifest it self differently ... failure of proper braking or wheel becoming too hot ... [just check if the wheel is hot].

Hello, I just got my code read. It is P0770, it says Shift Solenoid "E" Malfunction (Shift Solenoid Valve SLU). I attached the document below.

I asked Local repair shop, he said it may be the issue, since my engine speed goes up and down.

I am not sure how serious it is. I found one guy asked the same question, but he didn't fixed it.

Please share with me your most knowledge, thanks very much. My poor RX300

Are you sure there arent secondary codes...Sounds like Knock sensors to me...That would prevent Tranny going into overdrive.

yes, the reader shows P0770 01/02
P0770 02/02 P

However, this problem always happens when I climb a bright or hill, but I didn't carry anything heavy.

What is your tranny fluid level at...I overfilled mine a tad when I was in Mexico precisely due to the steep hills I would travel every day.
