Decided it might be time to do the Spark plugs on the RX. Was able to change them out without removing the plenum. Took about 1.5hrs and mangling my fingers behind the intake and fishing the plugs out. Put it back together and started up the car to get a nice CEL and VSC light. Cleared the codes by pulling the EFI fuse. Drove around for the day only to get the light back on. Scanned the code and got P1150. Cleared again and drove another day with no CEL...Next day CEL back on. So i decided to pull the front o2 and check it out just for fun. It was tough the whole way out and once i got it out the threads were ruined on half o2 and half the bung in the manifold. Guess 180k miles of heat took its toll and fused the threads in there. Looks like i will have to get a o2 thread chaser tap and new o2. Oh how i love working on Toyotas! What a coincidence i get o2 issue right after the plugs though...
hEY it is all in the time line...Good job changing the plugs without pulling manifold...I did the same thing...Sorry about your O2 problem. Lexmex had that same issue with the bung...I think he welded a new one in.
This is the tool i will probably try once i actually but the new o2 sensor.

If the threads are lost, they are lost .. cleaning would not be able to recover.
The right process (again no guarantees) 1/2 turn out 1/4 turn back in with lots of penetrating oil. Tight unthreading all the way, usually means trouble.
