Default Correct Tire Pressure?

Hi guys,
I was wondering what is the correct tire pressure when the car is cold. I know never to measure the tire pressure after you have driven it, but say for example, you wake up in the morning and you check the tire pressure. Should it be at 35 PSI or what number? My tires are the stock Bridgestone Dueler's with stock 16" rims. Thanks guys.

Talking Tire pressure for stockers

is listed on a sticker in the door frame on the driver's side, on another sticker on the inside of the driver's door and on the inside rear cover of the owner's manual (not the supplement). Then there is a more detailed section in your manual (pg 260-266 for my wifey's 99).

I haven't provided #s simply because our RX came with the old Badyears and so probably are slightly different than those given for the Bridgestones.

BTW, those stickers are in a more or less agreed upon location in most, if not all vehicles (old service station guy, from back when we used to "check all fluids" just because someone got gas on the full service side).

Moore is exactly right.. tire preseure #s are always in those locations.

The OEM pressure for ALL tires that come on the Rex is 30 psi all around.

Actually that's not entirely true - mine came with Bridgestone Duelers and they are 44 psi max preassure - says so right on the sidewall...

Wouldn't the handling improve with a firmer tire? What's the max you can safely put in 'em?

44psi max pressure is not normal driving pressure. 44 is the maxium that should be put into the tire. Normal driving calls for 30 psi.

I don't think you'll like the ride at 44 psi.

I usually run mine at 2 or 3 psi more than normal. It improves the handling.

Talking

Also, 44 psi is max HOT pressure, iow, baseline pressure plus increase due to heat buildup when driving plus whatever increase has occured from luggage and/or lardass buddies.

The 30# recommended pressure is when tires are cold (and that's how we were all taught to measure 'em) but the max is maximum no matter what!!

I run wifey's at 35#, btw.

Thanks everybody,
I'm at 35PSI. Wasn't sure if I should have read the door label or the one on the tire. Glad you guys can help. Thanks again.

What are you running for pressure when you install new tires 235/70/16 crossterrains. Should I stick with the recommended pressure ??

Yes. The pressure is irrelevant to the air volume, which will only slightly increase. Your vehicle load capability should slightly increase, I forget the specs on the 235's but I think they are slightly higher than the 225's.

Did you actually get them installed yet?

I have the CrossTerrains with 235-70-16. Mind you I live in a hotter climate and higher altitude. 30psi just did not cut it here. I switched to 35psi and was always knocking my head on speed bumps. I switched to 32psi front and 35 psi back and that feels very good.
