rear rotors ?
I replaced front rotors and pads on my 99 RX300 with 142k miles. There was a vibration while braking both in pedal and steering wheel. Well the steering wheel vibration is gone but there is still vibration on the pedal and rear of the car followed by noise when braking. I am guessing I need new rear brakes. They seem pretty rusted. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It happens only when applying brakes so I am guessing its the rotors. Now a humming noise comming from front passenger side when turning left. Possibly bad bearing. I am getting tired of fixing this car!

You are right about being better than about a new car payment. I have driven new cars but haven't enjoyed as much as I enjoy driving in RX.
I remember last year in snow the ABS will not kick in when tires with slipping. The ABS/Check engine light is not on. Could it be a problem with ABS causing pulsation in brake padel? How do I make sure ABS is working? Thanks.

I changed the rear rotors and pads last week and that fixed the vibration. I noticed the back side of the rotors was badly warped. The caliper pins were sticking. One of the pins had a torn dust boot so I had to regrease the pins and put new boot in. Also I ended up stripping a badly rusted caliper braket bolt on the right side. I had to cut out the head of the bolt to pull the caliper braket and rotor out. Once the braket was out, I was able to put it on vice grip and turn the remaining of the bolt with a pipe wrench.
When I was changing the front rotors, I had a hard time getting them off the hub due to rust. Suprisingly, the rear ones came off with a few blows of hammer in the center near the lug studs. It took me about 3 hours to get the job done but the brakes feel great now.

Salim,
I have owned this car only for about 14 months. This car was in Pittsburgh before which gets quite a bit of snow. So most of the rust is pre-existing. I do wash underside frequently during winter months.
