Default A/C problem?

Hello. The summer finally seems to be here! I've been using A/C while I drive and after I turn it off, there is a noise coming from behind the center console. At first I ignored the noise, but now it's driving me crazy!! It sounds like something is stuck or something is not turning. I was wondering if anybody knows what could be the problem. I have a 2001 Rx300 with 128,000 miles on it. Could it be the water pump?? Please post your suggestions. Thanks!

Does it sound like a broken cd changer? If so it's one of the servos. Search "air mix servo".

If not can you describe the noise?

I searched and found the link to the "air mix servo". It seems like there are two of them on the car, both driver and passenger side. Do i need to change both of them??

I think both servos are behind the glove box. I would be inclined to clean or replace both of them while I was in there.

What kind of labor are we talking about to get in there to clean them? Will a mechanic be able to tell once he see the servos, if the cleaning will be enough to do the trick? I heard the servos are expensive.

Right now I only have the noisey servos. Can the A/C continue to operate for some time before either being too cold or too warm with the noisey servos?

I drove mine for 2 years with the noise until I took it in to have it fixed under warranty. Will not hurt anything. I can't remember what the cost was to fix it since I did not have to pay for it but if I remember right it would have been several hindered dollars to fix it.
