Having both an RX300 and an IS250, I check out both forums regularly. It's interesting that the "culture" of the two forums couldn't be more different! The RX forum appears to be an older group whose primary goal is maintenance and preventative measures. The IS forum is mostly a younger group concerned with lowering their cars, ground effects, wheels and other cosmetic and performance mods.
Like I say, just an observation.
(and yes, I know the plural of forum is fora but it just looks weird in print!)
I always figured that more men would drive RX's, since men are on average taller and RX's are larger and have more room; and more women would drive IS's, since women are shorter on average.
yea ive noticed the same thing, i have a is 300 and most of them are about my age or younger and ae more concerned about mods, which i cant say much cause im doing mods to my is 300 too lol, but i think at least for the is 300 that comes into play because its the same engine as the toyota supra which was a sports car, so a lot of the people in that community are following in the same footsteps as those with the supras just its a luxury version lol, also the is 300 was the #1 most favored drift car so....that probably has something to do with it too ya know
p.s. theres tons of nice mods out for the is 300 and none for the rx 300 so, going to attract different crowd
I think it would be the same on other FORA, with 3-series equivalents being more interested in modifications, speed, and making changes to their vehicles. By nature, the younger people will want to do these things. The ML (RX) crowd is more interested in capacity and being older (with family) come on for maintenance issues.
I check the RX and LS forums and even in LS forum, the 1st/2nd gen at this point are more concerned with maintenance questions, LS430 about 50/50 between maintenance and MODS, with the LS460 more into what their vehicles have and other such questions.
Different vehicles, different folks, different needs and wants. Just human...

Can't speak to the IS but the RX300 owners were about 2:1 women to men!
