Default in-line amplifier

in attempt to increase the power to my speakers, can I run "in-line" amps to the speakers rather than replace the stock pioneer amp? The plugs from the stock amp are complicated and i fear interupting the signal back to the unit. I also plan to get new door speakers. I might leave the sub alone to see how it does, for now.
Thanks

Depends. Most "high level" amp inputs are designed for low power, OEM stereo systems (~2 wpc). Note that most manufacturers bloat their power amp specs obscenely! However, luxury vehicles with switching power supply amps (such as the Lexus) can generate 10-12 real watts, which would probably overpower a standard "High Level" input.

Have you talked to a reputable car stereo installation store (NOT Best Buy or the like)?
