this may sound retarded and all,but try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about 10 min. seems to clear up electronic issues such as this on the rx.hey,it`s worth a try anyway.nothing ventured, nothing gained. if that doesn`t work, let us know.

Is there a stuck cd?
If you self burnt cd's try not to load more than 1 or 2 in the magazine. Also labels are a big No NO.
I would start looking for a used (working cd player) at this stage.

When vehicle is old 6yrs plus, it may be lot more profitable to sell parts instead of the whole old beast.
Enough of RX's were sold and now there should be enough to part out. The only down side is that you do not know how extensive the cd player was used.

Do you know how to change the cabin air filter? Getting to that point is the start. I removed the panel that includes the glove box last year, and I think that exposes everything.
