Remanufactured Transmission "Harmonic" Vibration
Hello,
My year 2000 Rx300 just had a transmission failure at 98,000 miles. It was replaced with a remanufactured transmission. I have taken it back to the dealer twice in the past 2 weeks, but that vibration is still present in any gear except neutral and park.
The dealer claims to have reloosened, resituated and retightened all engine mounts, replaced rear exhaust gasket to muffler and replace the muffler. It still sounds like you are inside an airbus where it didn't before the transmission failure.
They are trying to tell me that this noise is a "variance of normal" or a "known flaw" for this year and model, and that the reason there was no noice before is that the pressure inside the old transmission was weak.
Any tips for how else they can fix this, (and hence have me release the funds to pay them?) Thanks.

I have questions for you:
Was the work done under warranty?
Is the "new" transmission under warranty?
Is taking the vehicle to 3rd party (professional transmission shop) against the warranty?
I'd take the vehicle to a 3rd party who specializes in transmissions and get a direct opinion. Being a dealer, they aren't always the best at everything and more so a jack of all trades but master of none.
That's my advice, I don't even have that same vehicle but the idea is the same with all cars. They have transmission shops for a reason, see if you can find out something by going to a specialist.

Pole Position
I had a remanufactured transmission in my Lexus, it had other problems and I had to beat the dealership up to make it right. (car would not go when you hit the gas pedal from a stop sometimes, very dangerous in rush hour traffic with someone behind you)
I would tell the installer, hey, it is not normal and I expect satisfaction... Mine had to be replaced again... Problem fixed, the first tranny was defective......

I'd make sure that all electrical grounds were properly replaced on the vehicle and also verify the transmission fluid level. Either thing being disconnected or low, respectively, will result in a slight vibration/hesitation.
