Default Changing transmission fluid again thinking about amsoil?? Or stick with OEM fluid?

I have a 2002 AWD with 130k miles. Bought since new. Car runs fine like it did when I drove it off the dealers lot back in 2001. Only thing went bad was the IACV.

Tranny is fine too. I dropped the pan probably 4 times? Flushed it many times with Toyota Type IV tranny fluid.

My question to you guys is should I just stick with Toyota Type IV fluid even though my tranny is fine? Or should I opt for the better fluid and change it with Amsoil for the first time?

I dont know what to do? Amsoil or Toyota Type IV?

Toyota Type IV. Obviously your tranny likes it. It got you 130K trouble free miles. As they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it. IMO

If you're gonna keep it longer than you expect, switch it to Amsoil. I have been so impressed with this fluid thus far, I just wish that it been available when I lived in Mexico.

I will keep this car 200k+ miles.

I'm in the middle. I dont want to switch fluids after all the problem free miles. I maintained this car very well. Many premature engine and transmission changes.

I'm scared that if I switch to amsoil transmission fluid my tranny won't like the change after using Toyota Type IV fluid? But I hear amsiol fluid is good so I torn between using it or not.

When I switched to Amsoil, I did it over the course of 3 drain and fills (tranny pan + front differential) and you could notice the difference after the first drain and fill. I had no qualms about switching and the tranny took the stuff quite well, no issues.

How many miles on your car?

Let's see right now about 135K, I couldn't have knocked off more than 1K since I moved from the Tampa area earlier this year (that's where I changed off to Amsoil).

Noticeable improvement for me as well after the switch to Amsoil. I dropped the pan and was able to get about 90% of the old out. I opted to treat the transmission with Auto-RX and will do another pan drop in 280 miles per their instructions.

Car shifts really smooth....105K on it now (2001 model)

Except mine, It hated the Amsoil. Actually, mine only performs well on the Castrol GTX Import vehicle fluid. I still want to try the Royal Purple Max atf,or the Mobil One. I think my car is just learning disabled.
