Default Amsoil Changeover - How?

I want to start using the Amsoil Trans fluid but I'm hesitant to do it by drain and fills. It seems it would be an expensive way to get it all changed over. Is there a better way to switch over or is drain and fill okay?

What I understand is that Amisol and the Toyota type IV can coexist.

Whith the system closed looped [Torque converter filled], you will have to do repeated changes. This applies in flush or drain an fill. If you are willing to break open at various spots and do measured fill/drain, you can up the % of Amisol.

My suggestion would be to do a bit more frequent first couple of changes. 3rd time around you will be at more than 75% (my guess)and then you can fall to regular drain and fill.

*There was note that said that you are 98%+ with diminishing improvement after 9th change or so.

I did 3 drain and fills of the Amsoil ATF, spreading them about a week apart. You will notice difference immediately after the first drain and fill. Salim hit it on the nose that you will at 75% or so at least by the third drain and fill. You can follow TunedRX300's method which is a sticky in our forum and that will get the most out of any of the drain and fill methods.

A flush is the only other way to do it.

My mule is working totally fine. But I would like to make him as happy as possible. Do you guys think the amsoil will make a different or it is not worth the risk to change over since the transmission is working fine now.
BTW, where do you guys get the Amsoil ATF, and how much $$$? Thxs.

Amisoil is not sold through retail or auto-retail chains [Just their business decision]. You have to search for local distributor or use internet sale.

Have heard only good stuff about it. I estimate it to be 3-4x the price. [can some one confirm]

Salim,
Two years ago, I bought Amsoil by the case for $7.5 shipped. Not a bad deal considering I am close to putting 50K miles since I replaced 7 quarts or 70% of ATF capacity with Amsoil Universal ATF.
Thanks for Lexmex to make the DIY Tranny Fluid a sticky, I will do an UOA soon to close the loop on the test. So everyone can benefits from the long term test. I have to say during the 50K miles, no slipping or anything abnormal from a subjective point of view.
Thanks to hithepin for purchasing the UOA kit, I will post test result shortly after I drain and fill with Amsoil.

Over on the volvo site they disconnect the tranny line in to the radiator (or cooler), have another person start the car, pump 2 qts out, stop engine add 2qts.

They keep doing this until the fluid is cherry red.
