Default High Pitch squeel?

It has been cold in Ohio, and the past few days, my 00 RX300 makes a high pitch squeel. After awhile, when the engine gets warmed up, it seems to go away. It starts off quiet, but as I accelerate, and pick up speed, it seems to get louder, and then finally fades away. I wrote a few days ago, about it stalling out when first starting, but it has quit doing that. The concensus was that it was probably the IACV. Could the two be related? Should I just wait a few days and it too will go away?

Thanks, Again.

Try listening to see if you can tell where exactly the noise is coming from. It could be your water pump...I have the same problem but it is coming from the opposite side to my water pump

Might by your accessory belts on the passenger side of the engine bay. I get this in 40F degree weather we occasionally get here.

Power steering pump or the steering rack (the rack can make a notorious squealing sound when turning).

I don't rule out a water pump, because it is something I see down here all too often with other vehicles, but those things aren't as prone to failure.

stall: IACV, squeel: AC/PS belt.

I am going to check all the things you three have suggested. This morning it was 6 degrees, and its about 30 inside my garage, but I will look it over. I also need to check the the previous owners records. I just bought it on Dec. 30, and the previous owner had it regularly serviced, so I will see how old it is.

I really enjoy reading all the posts on this site. I find it very interesting and informing. Thanks! Adam

My first hunch is that it is one of the two belts [AC or steering pump].

If you have a spray bottle, fill it with water and gently spray on the belt ... can be done while the engine is running ... just keep every thing out to the way of moving parts].

If the squeal goes away, you would know which belt as well.

AC and PS share the same belt.

It's a brisk 65/70 here at night in sunny Florida. HA!

I was going to hit the track tonight, then I also realized it was about 70 (too warm for quality runs), so I grabbed a bottle of tequila, I should be letting out a high pitched squeal of my own around midnight after I finish the bottle with my friend here. I may finish off the rest of this bottle of Havana Club Rum while I am at it.

Hows the head this morning LexMex?

But to the OP....almost no doubt its your FEAD belt.....will happen on cold and damp mornings when the belt is not quite as tight as it should be or in the case of a "stretchy" belt when its getting old....

Bloke a few doors away from me has a 500SL which is a few years old now, bought it as a play thing.....everytime he drives down the road in the colder months it squeals like a Japanese school girl watching ****....

Which reminds me......must make another trip to Japan again soon

Best regards David

Feels much better right now

I hear belts squeal of other vehicles when I pull out in the morning. It might be Mexico but it can hit the high 30s in temp here easily in the morning.

I hasn't done it today, not sure why as it is still cold. The squeel is different sounding than that from what I always figured was a loose belt. The belts are all relatively new. The sound starts off low, and then gets louder. It kind of reminds me of feedback from a microphone. Not sure how close that is to a Japanese girl watching ****. Can say that I have ever heard that before, of course I have only traveled North America.

Take the belt going to the alternator and try to twist it 90 degrees, If it makes it, it is too loose.
