Weapon R SW intake
So I had some codes pop up on me for my car that kept going on and off. I brought it to the dealership to get it fixed. Cost me $1096.00.
They also said one reason that the codes might be popping up would be that my aftermarket intake the filer was dirty. So they didnt want to clean it cause if anything happened they werent responsible cause its aftermarket. So I was wondering if anyone knows how to clean this filter? Thanks.

What a bunch of garbage they mentioned to you about the filter and the issue. Even a K&N wouldn't do as much damage with its oil (I know from experience what occurs there, but there is a way to just wash off the oil on one side and avoid that problem as K&N makes some excellent filters).
The reason I say that is that the crankshaft vent hose and to a lesser extent the PCV valve shove a lot more crud (vapor, oil) into the air intake system than that from any filter of any kind.
To clean that filter just take some laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid and first let it soak for about 5 minutes in hot water. Make sure the water and the liquid are fully mixed in a bucket. Then rinse under a sink and that should get it clean. My buddy Michael and I used to wash the filters on his RX7 down here, and a lot of crud came off of that given the air quality of Mexico City.

Thanks Lexmex. I cleaned the filter the other day using dish washer soap mixed it with hot water and let it soak in there for about 5-10 min. Rinsed in hot water and let it dry. The filter now is alot cleaner and I could feel the difference. Dumped the water out and it was ALL BLACK.
