i was cleaning my battery and when i was reinstalling the positive cable a couple of sparks came off. i didnt think much of it and then started the rx. sound fine at start up and then the rpm dropped quickly and went back up. so i let it warm up a lil more and then pulled out of the drive way. as i was driving down the street it started jerking bad over and over again and then when i let off the gas it died.
autozone is not to far from my house, so i just drove over there with the hazards on and the rx was jerking all the way and died at stops.
i got code p0100
so i went back home and cleaned the maf sensor, but no luck.
now it cant even turn over.
btw i have just changed my spark plugs and a/f sensors.
As TunedRX300 mentioned there can be a short here or possibly a dead MAF. Other possibility is an ECM, but the fact that you can get it to start up indicates the MAF is likely a goner.
Disconnect the battery and reconnect it attaching the positive first then the negative. Doing it the other way has also casued me some problems. See if that helps.
Sounds like you had a short, might want to check fuses and see whether one of them is burned .
forgot to mentioned i did check all the fuses and all is good.

i might have to go to autozone again tomorrow and get it swapped.
but tonight ima try and reconnect the battery cables.
i swapped the maf sensor and now its not jerking anymore. the only problem now is that it idles around 750-500 rpm and sometimes dies. i think its because when the problems first happened i got frustrated and sprayed carb cleaner in the iacv hole. i didnt really remove anything except for the intake tubes to get to it. did i just mess up the iacv? would i have to completely take it apart to clean it or can i just unplug something?
everytime i reset the ecu its usually the first start up that is good and then when i turn it off and let it set for a few minutes the next start up has low rpms.
is there a way to clean the iacv without removing it. can i just remove all the hoses/plug ins and then spray through the hole?
I would just spray in the hole and also drive your RX around for a few more days to let it get set in the computer. I occasionally get some low idles here and there and never found a reason to operate on the IACV any more than just spraying in the hole.
thanks lexmex. i just got back from driving it around all day and it seems to run fine.
lexmex...how many seconds do you spray in the hole. i read somewhere 15sec, so thats what i did.

That's about right. It should fill up a bit and then when the engine started will come out in a hole nearby on the other side of the throttle body.
