Just got a beautiful 2001 RX300 and I am totally in love! BUT I can't seem to get my clock to stay set. Everytime I turn on Lexy (that's her name!) the clock reads 1:00 so I reset but it always goes back to 1:00? What am I doing wrong?
Welcome to CL, metrostle!
Sad to say, your battery is on its last legs. Replace with a good, serviceable battery from a big box store. Amazing what electrical havoc can be wrought by a failing battery. Fortunately that clock re-setting to 1:00 serves as an early-warning of what could be an inconvenient and embarrassing failure.
Congrats on your purchase, you're gonna love your RX! For a load of information on your new ride, check out the FAQ section on this forum.

When my RX300 was still under warranty, Lexus replaced the battery after I began to have this issue down here (and for a moment I thought it was the Tequila I was drinking or the water).
You really don't need something as fancy as an Optima. The Costco batteries are very good. I also like and have used on one occasion Diehard Gold.

I had to complain a little to get them to do it, but apparently they checked somewhere and found out it could be covered under my 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty.
Heads up! - Radio Code.
(New owner + used model + change battery)
I went through this with my BMW.
Installed a new battery and the radio wanted me to punch in a 'code'.
I went thru hell as the code wasn't recorded anywhere and previous owners were no help.
The stealership wanted to get paid to pull the radio for the serial number.
They have a database of codes.
Decided to pull the radio myself.
BMW used 'special' screws that required a special tool.
(as if somebody would steal a 10 yr old AM/FM cassette)
I got it out.
My special tool was a cut allen wrench and a hammer.
Does Lexus even use radio codes?
:nevermind.
after using the search feature here looks a code isn't an issue.
The 'post first/search after' panic was due to my
personal experience.

99.99999% of owners never set the security code so decal that say anti-theft on stereos is never activated.
