Okay guys, I found out how much damage I'm looking at on the transmission. The transmission shop put it on the rack today and even called me to come take a look as they removed the pan. The pan had alot of debris in it, not sure if it was bits of seals or what, did'nt look to be any metal pieces though. The fluid looked almost burnt looking. They theorized that when the wrecker hauled it away, by the way, they pulled it about 15 miles or so, and it was not one of the trucks that haul it on the bed, just lifted up the front end and pulled it that way. The transmission shop thiinks they burnt up the transmission, being that my RX300 is an AWD. It looks as though it also got hung on somthing underneath, on the braces holding the rightside running board, they look to be pulled at an odd angle, and the transmission shop thinks the wrecker guys or the cops or firemen on the scene, set there trying to pull the vehicle off what it was hung on and burnt it up that way. Does any of this sound like it could cause such a problem?? I know there was absolutely nothing wrong before this, and the wrecker crew said that the transmission was locked up on it and was caused by the wreck, well the transmission guys said there is no way that happened. Now they said I could try and get another rebuilt transmission, which will be anywhere from $2,500 to $3,000, or take a chance and tear this one down and rebuild it, but they can't give me a definite price on how much will need to be fixed. What do ya'll think I should do? I could try and sell it like it is for parts or somthing, and take my loses or bite the bullet and open up the wallet. I had liability on it so it will come out of my pocket.

One more thing, does anybody know where the best place is to buy a rebuilt transmission for a RX300?

Sorry about posting so much, but somthing else I was thinking about this transmission. Does anyone think that it would cost more than $2000 to fix this one instead of buying a rebuilt one?

Unless you got a used one out of a junk yard, and replaced it yourself you are stuck, labor alone is expensive to replace the darn thing.

thomas1-Well, me doing the work is out of the question, I do good just doing the simple jobs like changing the fluids and rotating the tires, I'm no mechanic. I'm hoping someone out here knows a good place to get a reasonably priced rebuilt one. If not, I may need to sell it as is.
