He'll take a look at it, but he wants to see it first. He hardly ever looks at a manual except for the one I got him for the OBDII scanner.

It appears the Freak's reply is not in response to Lexmex's of 8 years ago.

Thinking more about this, I can take a closer look at this on the weekend on my RX.
It's my understanding that we are talking about cam timing here, and someone had asked a question about how one would go about setting/advancing/retarding cam timing, or what tools someone would use to set cam timing, to which someone responded "sometimes he uses a timing light.... cam timing is not set with a timing light, a timing light is for setting ignition timing on cars with a distributor. If you want to set your cam timing, pull your plugs and crank the motor by hand to TDC CYL 1 on the compression stroke, lock the flywheel, line up your cams, and lock them in place. Now put your chain or belt back on and tighten your tensioner. As far as VVT (lexus) goes I'm not sure but with a Bmws VANOS ( Same thing as VVT essentially) variable valve timing, you have to adjust the vanos itself whole using an ohm meter to test for continuity. Probably similar to time vvt. There is no guess and check it's either on or it's not. Who you trying to convince that your uncle adjusts, then buttons up everything to "test" then takes it back apart and rinse repeat until he gets it. That's ridiculous
