OK I took it to a reputable Toyota/Lexus shop here and this is what they quoted me:

110 CEL Scan/Dignostics
585 Timing Belt + Water Pump
250 6 new Spark Plugs
100 Coil

Thats $1045! Is this about right? Man, I just spent $1000 on tires last week.

Are you saying they already did the CEL Scan/Diagnostics and determined a coil was at fault? I am assuming you are changing the plugs, belt and WP because they are past due. If this isn't the case you could be in for some more bucks once they do the diagnostics to determine the CEL cause.
$585 sounds fair for the belt and WP. I just paid $399 -20% coupon = $320 for just the belt, which I thought was a great deal. I bet the WP would add about another $150. I can't comment about the coil and plugs.

You can order a coil park from Park Place Lexus for $75. If you add a PCV, OEM oil filter, and air filter, shipping is free.
I would DIY if you know which coil is bad.

Yeah its just the coil they said. The timing belt and water pump I'm getting done since its due as well as the spark plugs. The said the spark plugs might have been the cause of the faulty coil. They got me a free rental since my car is in the shop overnight. We agreed on $900 which was, IMO, pretty fair. Pickin up at lunch tomorrow. We'll see how it goes
